Our history

We are a group of social entrepreneurs that after working for years doing voluntary work in Children’s Villages, public and private, have detected a key opportunity in such institutions. That is to prepare the youngsters, which are about to leave, to face their insertion in society both socially and professionally, so that they can do it successfully and develop themselves while becoming positive and productive agents in society. Therefore, we generated and implemented the “Youth Development Project” for the first time in 2005, in the Children’s Village “Aldea San Ricardo”. We did it with the Civil Association “Voluntades”, the financial support of the Civil Association “Caminando Juntos” and the help of the “Program Junior Achievement” from San Ignacio de Loyola University.

After finishing that first project, and successfully reapplying in the year 2006 in the Children’s Villages “Puericultorio Perez Araníbar” and “Ciudad de los Niños” (with the help of the Civil Association ADRA), we decided to fund our own Civil Association. That is how Wichaima was created in 2007. It means “Always going forward” and was created to improve and continue the “Youth Development Project”, while leaving an open space to design and implement new social/ development projects.
